November 2018 Ipsy Bag

After a couple months of really good bags from Ipsy, they dropped the ball this month. The brands themselves are pretty decent, but the shades are not anything I would wear. In addition my November bag didn't come until December, which isn't really acceptable for a subscription service.

The November makeup bag was a blue plastic feeling material with black hearts decorating it. The zipper pull and accents are gold. I know a lot of people loved the bag, but it's not one of my favourites. Here are the products I received this month along with whether I think they fit my profile and reviews given.

The first item was a Huda Beauty Lip Strobe in the shade Enchanting (not the shade shown). This came in a few different shades and I was really hoping for a pretty copper colour but I received a very pale pink holographic colour. The gloss was beautiful and if this colour works for you, it would have been a great addition to the bag because it was a full sized product. Unfortunately, the colour wasn't anything I would ever wear because it would look horrible with my colouring.

Profile: This does fit my profile for lip glosses and also for Huda Beauty. I have however rated anything pink with the lowest rating and yet they continue to send it to me, so this is a fail for me. Very disappointed, because the copper colour would have been perfect.

Second I received a blush from Lottie London. I'm not familiar with the brand, but would have loved to give it a try. The colour they sent was Zayn, which is a pink toned blush, so it's getting passed along to someone that can use it. The blush was a larger pan size, which was nice to receive. It was however just the pan of blush and no case, so you would need to add it to a z palette for use or keep it stored in the clear plastic wrapper if you don't have one.

Profile: I do have blushes on my profile, so that fits. I don't have this particular brand noted and definitely don't have this colour noted either. Please Ipsy....stop sending me pink!!

The third item in my bag was a loose powder eyeshadow from Steve Laurant. This came in two shades - Rose Gold and Antique Olive. I was really hoping for the Olive eyeshadow and was lucky enough to get it. The shadow has nice pigment and blends out really well. It lasted all day on my lids as well (I wore a primer as usual). The packaging on this is super cute too and I imagine it will last a very long time.

Profile: I have eyeshadows on my profile, but not this brand. I am open to trying new brands and was excited to test this one out. I don't have any shades like Antique Olive and was eager to play around with it. This fit my profile pretty well.

My fourth item was a full sized nail polish from Nails Inc in the shade Montpelier Walk. This is a great brand of nail polish and I'm impressed they sent out a full sized bottle. The shade isn't so much me, but at least it's not pink. It's more of a medium toned neutral. The colour is too washed out for my pale skin, but I passed this on to my oldest daughter and it's her perfect nude. It made a nice addition to her stocking.

Profile: I don't have nail products added to my profile at all, so this was a fail.

Lastly I received The Do Gooder Dry Shampoo from Cake. I have to give this credit....it smells amazing. I can see where they get the brand name Cake from. It is a stronger scent, so if you're sensitive to scents, this isn't for you, but it you don't mind sweet smelling scents, you just might love this. That being said, it does also work great as a dry shampoo. No complaints on that front, with the exception of my youngest daughter stealing it because she loves how it smells.

Profile: I have no hair products at all on my profile and this is the second month in a row that Ipsy has sent me them despite that and despite the low ratings for receiving it. Definitely a fail, but at least it will be used up. These do come in handy for travel.

Overall, I'm not too happy with my Ipsy this month. It had great brands and actually featured some good full sized products, however the personalization was so far off for me that it made the bag useless for the most part. The colours were wrong, plus they sent two items that I requested I not be sent. Not too thrilled when this month's bag had so much potential.

Overall Score: 2/5
