December 2018 Ipsy Glam Bag
This month Ipsy surprised everyone and sent a bonus item in our bags. I'm guessing it was a gesture Merry Christmas and thank you gift. The bonus item through me off a little bit and I forgot to include one of my items in this month's picture, BUT, I'll be sure to include it in my breakdown below.
The December bag was beautiful. It was covered in gold sequins with a black zipper and tassel pull. Perfect for the upcoming holidays. Here are the products I received this month along with whether I think they fit my profile and reviews given.
The first item was a Luxie Beauty Precision Blending Eye Brush (243). I'm sure you've heard me gush about Luxie brushes a TON, but I really do love them. They are made well, have super soft bristles and they don't shed. They wash up nicely too and they look pretty. Most importantly, they work really well. The pick up a good amount of pigment and apply product well, while blending out nicely. I haven't tried one out yet that I didn't like and this one is no exception. I like how small this one is because it's perfect for my smaller, partially hooded eyes, and I don't already have a brush like this in my collection.
Profile: This fits my profile perfectly. I ask for brushes and I rate them and the Luxie brand very highly every time I get them. Big win for me on this one!
Second I received a liquid lipstick from Ciate London. This isn't just a regular liquid lipstick either...it goes on like a normal lipstick, but when you press your lips together it transforms to a glittery, shimmering lipstick...hence the name...Glitter Flip. I received the shade Infamous which is a sparkling berry shade. As excited as I was to try this out, berry shades aren't for me, so I haven't actually been able to try out this lipstick.
Profile: I do have liquid lipsticks on my profile and I have Ciate London as well. I'm just really tired of being sent pinks and berries when I've rated them all one star so I would stop getting them. I don't have any of these colours chosen in my profile either. Thumbs down on this one.
The third item in my bag was a Ciate Mini Translucent Powder. When they say mini, they aren't joking. This is one of the tiniest samples I've ever received. It's a very good brand and I was excited to try out this powder, but it's teeny tiny and you really have to fight to get any of the actual powder out of it. I did manage though and it was an okay powder. It looked nice and kept me matte, but to be honest my Tarte Amazonian Clay Powder gives a nicer finish to my skin. Not really worth the effort it takes to get any out and I don't think I would use this to travel with just because of how difficult it is to get the powder out.
Profile: I have powders on my profile and I have this brand too. It probably would have been a hit, had the sample size been a little larger OR even if they bothered to maybe make the holes a little bit larger so some of the powder would actually come out. That's on Ciate though...as for Ipsy, this fits my profile.
My fourth item was a full sized Pacifica Beauty Rainbow Crystals Liquid Mineral Strobe in the shade Unicorn. This is such a pretty highlighter. It's quite reflective and will definitely give you a glow. It's a bit bright for my tastes, so it's not going to make it into my collection, but I'm not upset at all about receiving it. I'm not really a huge fan of liquid highlights and this one also seems like it would be quite intense, so I'd much rather pass it along to someone that can use it rather than attempt to use it on my fair skin.
Profile: I have highlighters chosen on my profile. I don't have this particular brand, but I'm always open to trying out new brands, so I'm not really upset about this one. It is such a pretty, reflective shade as well...I really wish I could find a use for this one.
The fifth item I received was the Hey Honey Relax! Propolis & Honey Soothing Moisturizer. The propolis in this is a resinous mixture made from honey bees that is supposed to calm and soothe skin. It's supposed to have healing and antibacterial powers which are good at fighting acne. It does have other botanical ingredients as well. I know a lot of people love Hey Honey products, but this doesn't scream out to me to try it, especially since my skin is pretty normal and doesn't need any calming or soothing.
Profile: I don't have skincare products on my profile nor Hey Honey. I've actually rated a similar (maybe the same?) product from this brand poorly, so I wasn't excited to see another one. This was a fail for me.
The final item I received in my Ipsy bag this month was a bonus item. Everyone received a F.A.R.A.H Tapered Blending Brush. This is a very pretty brush with a gold tapered handle and very soft bristles. To be honest the brush feels really light and fairly cheap, but it is cute. I haven't had the opportunity to test out the blending brush yet, so I'm not sure how it performs, but I will be testing this one out for sure and it will be in my collection.
Profile: This was a bonus item which everyone received, so I'm not sure it's fair to rate it. Technically it would fit anyway, because I always rate brushes highly (I've always received good ones), so it would make sense for them to send me this one. Definitely glad it was sent out this month.
Overall, this was an okay month. I'm happy about the two brushes and I also really like the bag itself. I did receive some good products, they just weren't perfectly suited to my colouring, which happens. This isn't the worst bag and definitely not the best bag I've received.
Overall Score: 3/5
