November 2018 Boxycharm
The November Boxycharm theme for the month was Goal Digger, which fit the box well with most of the items included. There was an amazing gold theme this month, which included an eyeshadow palette from Ace Beaute, Cover FX Glitter Drops in a new unreleased shade, and Luxie makeup brushes. The other two products I received were variations in the monthly box. I received the Bodyography Makeup Brush Cleanser and a Jonteblu pencil eyeliner. A lovely mix of items this month and it was nice to receive some really different types of items. On to the product breakdown and reviews (where I'm able to). I'll try to include Canadian pricing for products if it's available, but many items we get are only sold in the US or they may be sizes/variations created just for Boxycharm.
The first item that was in all the boxes was the Ace Beaute Grandiose Palette, which contained eight eyeshadows that were absolutely perfect for Autumn. There was a mix of both mattes and shimmers/metallics. My favourites have to be Cinnamon and Myrtle, although Primerose is gorgeous as well. The shadows are nicely pigmented and apply well. A couple can use some extra blending, but overall, I really enjoy this palette and I'm so glad it was in this month's Boxycharm. The palette retails for $24.99 US or $33.19 CDN, so already more than the value of the box.
Next in the box was a bottle of Cover FX Glitter Drops in the new, unreleased shade, Nova. I was a little surprised to see these in the box since they are quite pricey. The shade Nova is a gorgeous pure gold shade which I'm very excited to play around with. I'm crazy pale though, so I'm trying to figure out the best way to try these, since I probably can't use them as a cheekbone highlight. I was thinking about trying the inner corner of the eye or mixed in with some body lotion for a glow. The Cover FX Glitter Drops retail for $54 CDN or $44 US.
One of the items I was extremely excited to receive was the Luxie Luminous Eye Set. I'm a huge fan of Luxie brushes already and these ones are just so pretty with their glittery, gold handles. The reason I was excited though was because of the small size of the actual brushes. These are detail brushes and are some of the smallest I've seen. The bristles are still super soft and work just as well as other Luxie brushes, but if you're like me with smaller, slightly hooded eyes, then these brushes are a dream. They really help to get better placement of eyeshadows and get a more detailed look because you can actually get the shadow right where you want it - in a smaller, more concentrated area.
The brush set retails for $40 CDN or $30 US.
Next was the Bodyography Pro Makeup Brush Cleanser. Not a very exciting product to receive, but it's a useful one. Brush cleansers can be pricey, so it's nice to receive something this practical even if it's hard to get excited about it. The cleanser contains natural orange peel and you can tell by the scent. It's also cruelty free. The makeup brush cleanser retails for $12 US.
The final item in my box was the Jonteblu Glittering Star Eyeliner. There is no photo as it was missing from my Boxycharm box, BUT...the kind folks at Boxy assured me that they've shipped one out right away. The liner is black with gold glitter flecks in it. To be honest, this is the item I'm least impressed with. I'm not a fan of Jonteblu products and not really a fan of receiving eyeliners in general. This is pretty rough, scratchy and dry. The eyeliner retails for $5 US
The total value of November's Boxycharm is $115.99 US and approximately $149 CDN. Pretty good value this month and an interesting mix of items.
I'm pretty happy with my Boxycharm this month, even though the makeup brush cleanser is practical and boring and the eyeliner is a dud. The palette is gorgeous as is the glitter drops (not to mention they are something I wouldn't splurge on myself) and the brushes are worth the entire cost of the box for me.
