Review: Touch in Sol No Poreblem Primer

Touch in Sol No Poreblem Primer

I've heard so many rave reviews about the Touch in Sol No Poreblem Primer that I just couldn't wait to use it myself. Every YouTuber, beauty blogger and even makeup lover that I know in real life just loves this stuff. It's the holy grail primer for many. After trying this out myself, I learned there was another side to the reviews, but we'll get into that shortly.

The packaging on the primer is top notch. It comes in a heavy frosted glass bottle with a black pump. They really didn't skimp here which is nice considering the price point on this primer is just $23 CA at Sephora. For 30ml or just over an ounce, that's pretty good, especially since you don't really need to use a lot of this at once. A pump goes a long way.

The primer itself has a very silky texture. It smooths onto the skin effortlessly and left me feeling a bit hydrated, but not greasy. It does feel like there is silicone in it, which is what is normally used to fill pores and fine lines, but this doesn't pill up like some silicone primers do. My foundation applied evenly over it and I have to say...I was impressed. My skin looked really good and my foundation held on all day without looking overly dry or greasy. I could see what all the buzz was about. This became my go-to primer each day.

My fairy tale romance ended pretty quickly though. After using this for a few days I broke out like crazy. This isn't normal for me at all. While I do get the occasional pimple or two, my entire cheeks were just covered in angry red spots. While normally I might have a few products on the go and have to figure out why this happened, I was in the middle of a project where I couldn't use any new skincare, which also had me limiting anything else new I was using on my face (more on that in a future post).

Breakout from No Poreblem Primer

This picture really doesn't even do it justice. Along with the bright red pimples I also had tons of tiny bumps that you couldn't really see, but that you could feel. My face was really itchy too. I've honestly never had a reaction like this to anything. My skin isn't sensitive at all, which is why I can test out so many different products. I already use silicone based primers, so it's not an issue with silicone either. I had a photo shoot a couple of weeks after this happened, so I was really worried. I limited my skincare for a couple of days (no heavy moisturizers) and didn't wear any makeup until after my photoshoot. It did ease up after a while, although some spots you could still see for a while.

Honestly, I can't say how disappointed I am. I can see why everyone raved. I really loved this primer while I was using it, but after the reaction I had I just can't use it again. After I woke up like this I mentioned it in one of my makeup groups and found out some others had the same reaction. So while everyone loves this primer and goes on and on about how life changing it sadly won't be making an appearance in my makeup routine again.
