February and March 2019 Empties - Buy or Bye
Is it just me or is the year just flying by? It's going so quickly that I almost forgot to post my empties! That being said, I finished off a few more products, so I thought I would pass along whether I liked them or not and if I think they're worth repurchasing. I think my goal for the remainder of the year is to start finishing off more of what I have. I'll admit I can be a hoarder at times and will make a product last forever when it starts getting low. Time to start overcoming that!
Herbal Essences Bio Renew Bourbon Manuka Honey Shampoo
I enjoy most Herbal Essences shampoos and conditioners. They really seem to have so many yummy smelling fragrances and this one is no exception. I actually received this one to try out and review (although this post is not part of that). I was really happy about that because like I mentioned - I enjoy a lot of their products. Besides the delicious fragrance of this shampoo, it lathered up well and rinsed out easily, which is a must for my long, thick locks. My hair felt clean afterwards and smelled good. Mostly what I look for in a shampoo since my hair is pretty normal.
Would I buy again? Yes. I like Herbal Essences shampoos and the Bourbon Manuka Honey scent was one of my favourites. It's smelled rich, yummy and luxurious at the same time, plus it rinsed out so well for me. Full retail is only about $4.99 which is an affordable option.
I actually received this in one of my monthly beauty subscriptions and it's the second time I've actually received it. I'm a big believer in the powers of dry shampoo and like trying out new ones to see which ones work better. First of all, the scent on this particular brand is amazing, as are most Cake products. If you don't like strong scents or sweet scents then this one isn't for you. I would rather have this particular sweet scent than something floral or perfumey. The spray on this is fairly aggressive, so short bursts and moving the can quickly works best. It goes on white, but it blends into the hair well and didn't leave it feeling sticky or goopy. It did give my hair a little volume boost as well, which is appreciated when you have thicker, heavy hair.
Would I buy again? Maybe. It didn't bother my scalp and I like the scent and performance. The only thing tricky with this one is it's not readily available everywhere, but you can snag it online or at Shopper's Drug Mart where it's about $14.99. If I managed to snag it on sale, I'd probably pick it up again.
I actually received this sample to test out and review. I was able to use a very small amount of it, so it lasted me a couple of months. The eye cream spread easily and absorbed quickly. I'm not sure I noticed a big difference over the time I used it.
Would I buy again? No. This eye cream is expensive. If it worked, that would be another matter, but I didn't notice enough of a difference for this to be a splurge for me. You can find this at Shopper's Beauty Boutique for around $80.
I've used one of the sheet masks before and I loved it. These sheet masks are infused with chocolate and mulberry. They smell really good and they work. After using one of these masks for 15 minutes my skin looked clean, smooth and just felt hydrated and soft. This is one of my favourite sheet masks and it doesn't irritate my skin at all.
Would I buy again? Yes. I actually purchased quite a few of these after trying out my first one. They are $4.99 US on the BioBelle website.
This is another product that I received to try out. It's a small amount, so it's hard to know how well it works over time, but for a first impression, I liked it. It had a nice fragrance and spread over the skin evenly. It absorbed quickly and didn't leave me feeling greasy at all, while still making my skin feel hydrated and moisturized.
Would I buy again? Possibly. This was good, but I have other brands I normally buy and while I have nothing bad to say, it didn't stand out as better than what I use. I small travel sized tin is only about $2.49 at Shopper's Beauty Boutique.
I'm honestly not too finicky on my shave gels. I buy a couple of different brands depending on which is on sale at the time and I also tend to try out different scents if they have them. This was a newer one at the time and I liked it. It smelled fruity and fresh and the shave gel did it's job as usual.
Would I buy again? Yes. I buy this brand all the time and I enjoyed the fruity scent. It's about $3.99 at Walmart and other retailers, but it usually goes on sale for less.
I received this sample from a friend at a time I was looking for a good lip balm. My lips (and the rest of me) tend to get very dried out in the winter and my usual brand has been discontinued. I used this sample normally at night time before bed and it worked amazingly well. It was thick enough that it lasted a really long time without feeling goopy or gross. It also kept my lips feeling soft and hydrated. Honestly, this is one of the best balms I've ever used.
Would I buy again? Possibly. This is a little too expensive for my blood. A tube of this balm is $32 at Sephora. If it were to go on sale, I'd consider buying it and in the mean time, I'm keeping my eye out for some sample sizes. I'd say if you have really dry lips and nothing else is working, then this would probably be worth a shot.
