Boxycharm - July 2019
The July Boxycharm theme for the month was Au Naturale. The theme was fitting since it really had a focus on natural shades, products and colours. It was a pretty box this month, I do have to admit and actually had a few brands that I love. The variation I received was 1, which included a Butter London Natural Goddess Eyeshadow Palette, the Elemis Superfood Vital Veggie Mask and Luxie Gaea Brushes . I believe these three items were in all boxes (but don't quote me on that). The other two items were variations and mine came with an Alamar Cosmetics Lip Gloss and Appeal Gel Liner. On to the product breakdown and reviews (where I'm able to). I'll try to include Canadian pricing for products if it's available, but many items we get are only sold in the US or they may be sizes/variations created just for Boxycharm.
The first item that I received was the Butter London Natural Goddess Eyeshadow Palette. This is such a pretty palette and I'm glad that we received a brand other than the what feels to be the standard PUR ones. The palette had six shades - 4 shimmer and 2 matte. This isn't so much a standalone palette because it doesn't offer much in the way of transition shades, but it's a nice little palette to have. Not only is the packaging beautiful, but the shades are stunning and are able to create some gorgeous natural looks. Keep in mind, this isn't going to give a vibrant or super colourful look, the palette is called Natural Goddess for a reason. They are toned down, natural shades, but beautiful none the less. This was a great addition to the box! The Butter London Natural Goddess Palette retails for $32 US.
Next in the box was the Elemis Superfood Vital Veggie Mask. I'm a fan of Elemis. While I haven't tried a ton of their products, I've enjoyed what I have tried out and I love that they're a natural brand, so I can feel good about what I'm putting on my face and skin. The ingredients are packed full of goodness such as wheatgrass, kale, nettle, avocado and chia seed oils, vitamin C and passionfood acids. The mask is supposed to provide hydrated brighter skin to dehydrated and dull skin types. Seeing as my skin has been on the dryer side lately and also looking a little more dull, I'm really looking forward to trying out this mask. The Elemis Superfood Vital Veggie Mask retails for $35 US.
The third item was the Luxie Gaea 3 Piece Brush Set. The set included a 510 flat foundation, a 250 large blending brush and the 246 precision crease brush. The brushes have the traditional Luxie pink handles, but they're a little different in that they feel more 'wooden' with an almost marbled looking texture to them. They come in a brown cardboard envelope with a floral print. I'm a fan of Luxie brushes, so it's always nice to add to my collection. The flat foundation brush is perfect for use with the Elemis mask and I'm loving the shape and size of the precision crease brush for doing a cut crease! The Luxie Gaea 3 Piece Brush Set retails for $30 US or $39 CA.
Next was the first variation item of the box, which was the Alamar Cosmetics Des-Nude-As Lip Gloss. I received Dulce which is a nude shade with peachy undertones. This was an item that Boxycharm said they picked according to the profile I filled out with my colouring and preferences. It was spot on because I definitely prefer peachy toned shades. This is actuall perfect for my colouring. I'm a big fan of Alamar Cosmetics. I love the eyeshadows, blushes and brushes I have from them. They just perform so well. I'm really excited to try this gloss, which is also gluten free, talc free, vegan and cruelty free. The Alamar Cosmetics Des-Nude-As Lip Gloss retails for $15 US.
The next variation item I received was an Appeal Gel Liner. I received the shade Forest Green. I'll be honest...it's hard to get excited about receiving liners and I find that most of the time the liners are pretty awful as well. Surprisingly I've heard that this Appeal liner is very creamy and easy to use. Add to that, I received a pretty green shade and while I'm not super excited about it, I'm not mad at it either. I'm actually kind of interested to see how this will look in my waterline with some of the pretty bronze shades in my new Morphe palette. The Appeal Gel Liner retails for $21 US.
The total value of July's Boxycharm is $133 US and approximately $178 CDN, which is pretty good value. There were some really good brands included this month and I can't wait to try out the Elemis mask and Alamar gloss.
Final verdict? 5/5
I'm really happy with this month's box. While not super exciting, I'll definitely use all the items. If you would like to subscribe to Boxycharm, there is currently NO waitlist. My link to sign up is:.
