July 2019 Ipsy Glam Bag

July's Ipsy Glam bag theme was Dive In, which was supposed to be summer focused bringing with it dewy skin, beachy waves and shimmering budge proof makeup. I found it odd that the bag then had a green, leafy theme with peach accents. It was a cute bag, but not one I'll be keeping in my collection. Here are the products I received this month along with whether I think they fit my profile and reviews given.

The first item in my bag was the Glamglow Glowstarter Mega Illuminating Moisturizer in Nude Glow. I actually had the option to choose an item in my bag this month from a small array of products. I decided to go with this one because I've never tried a moisturizer from Glamglow before and was curious to try this one out. This illuminating , iridescent highlighting moisturizer contains vitamins, botanicals and hyaluronic acid (which I'm a huge fan of). Not that Glamglow could ever be confused for a 'natural' brand, but I like seeing good ingredients in my skincare, especially ones that I know I'll benefit from.

Profile: This semi-fits my profile. I do enjoy Glamglow, but I usually shy away from skincare in my bag. Since I personally chose this product for my bag though, it gets two thumbs up.

Second I received the Mellow Cosmetics Precision Pen Eyeliner in Black. I'm really not a fan of receiving eyeliners in my subscriptions simply because I tend to get so many of them, especially in black. I've been hearing some subtle buzz about this brand though and reviews have all been good for various products, so I'm actually looking forward to giving this one a try. Don't get me wrong...I'm not excited about this choice, but I'll make the best of this one, simply because it's a brand I've been wanting to try out and I can probably use a fresh black liquid liner for Halloween. Let's just hope that this one is pigmented, long wearing and easy to use.

Profile: Not really a win for me. I believe this is a fairly new brand and I don't tend to rate eyeliners highly because they're usually not that great.

The third item in my bag was a Coloured Raine Cosmetics Eyeshadow in the shade Who, Me? I've been wanting to try out Coloured Raine eyeshadows for quite some time. I always hear great things about them. They're supposed to be buttery soft, pigmented, blendable and easy to work with. I was really excited to be getting one in my bag this month, but that quickly faded when I saw out of all the shades they were offering, I was getting a rose gold shade. I don't wear pinks at all - they just completely clash with my skintone and colouring. Thankfully I was able to snag another shade as an add on, named Super Star which is a bright mustard gold shimmer shadow. That one I can't wait to get on my eyeballs!!

Profile: This was a win for the brand and for being an eyeshadow. The shade was a total fail as I've repeatedly rated pinks at the lowest score and it's not on my profile. I really wish that you could request to not be sent a colour/shade through Ipsy, just like you can ban a product type.

My fourth item was a Pacifica Bronzer Blush Duo. Pacifica is known for being a natural brand, while also being vegan and cruelty free. The pan sizes in this compact are huge. This is a full sized product and surprisingly even has a mirror on the back of it. Although I haven't tried this out, the bronzer looks to be a shade appropriate for pale skin. The blush is on the pink side, but not overly so, so I'm not sure yet if I'm going to try this one out or pass it along. Despite that, it was a nice product to receive since it's full sized and a good, natural brand. The shades in this really are lovely.

Profile: I like trying out new, natural brands and also love receiving bronzers and blush. I'll call this one a win even though the blush portion might not be perfect.

The last item I received was an It Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Concealer. I've wanted to try this out forever, so I'm excited to get this in my bag. The shade is fair, which hopefully should work out well for me. It's an anti-aging concealer as well, so I'm hoping it will work with the fine lines and dry skin I have in my under eye area. I will say that for such a large amount of packaging that it came in, the sample itself is quite small. I've heard that you only need the teeniest, tiniest dot of product to work though, so maybe this will give me a fair amount of uses to see how I truly like the product.

Profile: I really enjoy It Cosmetics and concealers as well, so this fits my profile perfectly. Awesome job on this one, Ipsy!

Overall, my bag was okay this month. The ability to choose one of my products and the It Cosmetics concealer saved a 'meh' bag along with the ability to choose one of the Coloured Raine shadows. Without that this would have scored lower. Still not an exciting bag by any means, but at least I'll use most of the products.

Overall Score: 4/5
