October 2019 Ipsy Glam Bag

So sorry this review is coming so late. It's just been a crazy time - both with family stuff popping up and every day life just happening. I've purchased a new blog planner, which I'm hoping will help me organize and streamline and be a little more consistent with posting to my blog. Don't forget you can also find me over on Instagram (right HERE). I usually post on their every day with mini reviews and makeup looks. Now to get to the Ipsy review for October....

October's Ipsy Glam bag theme was Flaunt It, which included an adorable Betty Boop bag. The bag itself had a large closeup of Betty Boop's face, with a 'B' zipper pull. The back of the bag was covered in black sequins. The theme focused on obsessing over what we love about ourselves. To show off what makes us feel beautiful, and who better than iconic beauty and confidence queen Betty Boop to inpsire you to flaunt it unapologetically. Here are the products I received this month along with whether I think they fit my profile and reviews given.

The first item in my bag was the Soo'AE Panda Eye Brightening Mask. This is such a cute mask! I love pandas and really can't wait to try these masks out. The gel mask contains vitamin B3 to help minimize lines and wrinkles and improve dull skin, Centella Asiatica to moisturize and soothe and dipotassium glycyrrhizate to nourish and brighten skin. I've tried a mask from Soo'AE in the past and it was okay. It wasn't for my skin type so it felt a little dry, but this one looks to be the opposite, so I'm excited to give it a go.

Profile: I don't normally like to receive skincare in my bags, but I've grown to appreciate receiving sheet masks. I haven't had to purchase them in forever and I've received some really amazing ones that give my skin a boost. Although I don't have skincare on my profile, I usually rate the sheet masks highly, so this is a plus for me.

Second I received the Betty Boop x Ipsy Blink and Wink Mascara. This month Ipsy partnered with Betty Boop and released not only the cute bag, but limited edition makeup items. There were some really cute options available and to be honest, I was less than excited to receive a boring mascara out of everything available. The packaging on this is cute, I will give them that, but at the end of the day it's just another mascara sample. I'll probably pass this one along to someone that loves Betty Boop and will appreciate this item far more than I will.

Profile: Not really a win for me. I don't have mascaras on my profile because I just have SO many. I don't mind on occasion if it's a really, really good brand because I can either try it out or use it to travel with, but this is just an unknown brand.

The third item in my bag was the It Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream with SPF. I received this in the shade Fair, which should be a good match for my pale skin. This is supposed to be a buildable cream, ie. foundation, which evens out your complexion and helps calm redness with collagen, hyaluronic acid and vitamins. Despite being a CC cream, this foundation is very pigmented and a little goes a long way. I know a lot of people love this cream, especially those with more mature skin because it not only has great coverage, but it has skin benefits as well. I've wanted to try this out for quite a while, so I'm excited to get this in my bag.

Profile: This fits perfectly. I love being able to try out foundations and concealers and I'm really happy that this came in a shade that should be good for me to try.

My fourth item was the First Aid Beauty Facial Radiance Pads. These pads are made with glycolic and lactic acid, cucumber and Indian gooseberry and claim to safely exfoliate, tone and brighten skin. They're alcohol free and safe for sensitive skin, which in general, a lot of pads like these aren't. The packet contains 10 pads and was actually my pick for this months bag. Not because I really wanted them, but just because the choices this month weren't that great for me and this just seemed like one of the better options.

Profile: Normally this would be a miss since it's a skincare item, but I did choose this option. I'm still not thrilled with it, but I honestly didn't want any of the other choices they were offering and I know that First Aid Beauty is a good brand.

The last item I received was the Beau Gachis Concealer Brush. Beau Gachis is a french brand that claims to make high quality products at affordable prices. That being said, this concealer brush retails for $12. It's made for cream or powder concealers and has a tapered tip that is supposed to readh hard to hit areas, like the inner corner of the eyes and around the nose. To be honest, I'm on the fence about this brush. It does seem like good quality, but I usually apply my concealer with a sponge or a finger. This would be a decent shape to use for a cut crease, but I think it's just too large for my smaller hooded eyes, so I may just have to pass this one along.

Profile: I have makeup brushes on my profile and almost always rate them highly. This does fit my profile, but that being said...this isn't the type of brush I normally use and I've actually never head of the brand.

Ipsy Add-Ons - this month had some decent add ons, but nothing that tempted me too much. I'm trying to be less compulsive when add ons are released, although it can be difficult at times because the deals are great and they sell out so quickly. Add to that you can only access them the first time you log in that day and it makes for a stressful situation sometimes!! I kept it fairly simple this month and only added on two brushes. One was the Sigma E25 Blending Brush which I scored for $3. I love Sigma brushes and this one normally retails for $21, so it was too good to pass up. The second item was the Betty Boop Blending Brush, which I purchased just because it was a special item and really cute (plus I liked the shape of the brush).

Overall, my bag was okay this month. Nothing that I'm overly excited about, except maybe the It Cosmetics Cream. I don't count the add-ons in my overall rating since that is an extra added expense. I only rate the base bag, which I think is fair.

Overall Score: 3/5
