Boxycharm - December 2019

The December

Boxycharm theme for the month is Whimsy. I was was somewhat looking forward to this month's box mainly because it included a Storybook Cosmetics palette, which are just so cute and I couldn't wait to add one to my collection.

The variation I received was 1, which included the above mentioned Storybook Cosmetics palette, an Elemis skincare product, a Ciate blush, an Aesthetica brush cleaner and a Brow Bar Brow Kit. The palette had two different options and the blush had three, the Elemis was the choice option this month and the other two items were variant items. On to the product breakdown and reviews (where I'm able to). I'll try to include Canadian pricing for products if it's available, but many items we get are only sold in the US or they may be sizes/variations created just for Boxycharm.

The first item that I received was the

Storybook Cosmetics Fairy Tales: Robin Hood Palette. This palette has six shades which include four mattes and two metallic shimmers. Because it has a Robin Hood theme to it, the shades focus on greens, golds and a couple of taupe/brown shades. One looks to be a nice light transition shade, while the other will be good to deepen the outer corner or line with. The shimmers look beautiful and I can't wait to see how they perform. Review coming soon on this palette! I believe this 6 shade palette was created for Boxycharm, but you can find it on their website if you're interested. The Storybook Cosmetics Fairy Tales: Robin Hood Palette retails for $35 US (although the website currently has it on sale for $20).

Next in the box was the Elemis Pro-Collagen Rose Facial Oil. This was actually a choice product for us this month. We could choose between the eye treatment or the Saturday Skin Waterfall Glacier Water Cream. Since I have a few creams on hand already and I also really like the Elemis brand, I decided to choose the facial oil. This soothing facial oil contains English Rose, Padina Pavonica and Roaring Water Kelp which claims to soothe, nourish and smooth the skin and aid in fine lines and wrinkles. Elemis focuses on using natural ingredients and is free from artificial colours, parabens, sls, sles, dea and mineral oils. I'm really looking forward to trying this out, since I haven't experimented too much with facial oils yet. The Elemis Pro-Collagen Rose Facial Oil retails for $79 US.

The third item was the Ciate Marbled Light Illuminating Blusher. I received Halo, which is a dusty pink shade. I was really hoping for a nice peachy shade so I could try this out because the marbled blush looks so beautiful, but unfortunately that didn't happen. There was some controversy with this product because our little product sheet included with Boxycharm says this is a talc-free formula (as did the Ciate website and others), however the ingredients list on our blushes clearly had talc listed as the second ingredient. I'm not going to go into this more since I did an entire blog post dedicated to the issue. You can read about it HERE if you're interested. The Ciate Marbled Light Illuminating Blusher retails for $28 US.

Next was the Aesthetica Brush Cleaner and Conditioner. I'll be honest....this is not the most exciting of items to receive but in general, I'm pretty grateful to get brush cleaners in the box. It's a product that I kind of hate to have to buy, so this really saves me the trouble. Additionally, I probably get a much higher priced brush cleaner this way then if I were to go out and purchase one myself. I do like the face that this one has a conditioner included in it as well. I like to take good care of my makeup brushes! The Aesthetica Brush Cleanser and Conditioner retails for $17 US or $22 CA.

Surprisingly, the next item in the box was not an eyeliner, mascara or lipstick! Say what?? The last item in my box was the Brow Bar Brow Makeover Kit. I did receive the 'Light' option, however it still looks way to dark for my blonde brows, so I'll have to pass this along. The kit contains two brow shades, so you can gradient your brows if you want, a brightening brow lift cream shade, a sculpting mascara gel, plus two tiny brushes to use with the product. It's a very cute kit and would probably be great for travel if I was able to use the shades. The Brow Bar Brow Makeover Kit retails for $30 US.

The total value of December's Boxycharm is $187 US and approximately $250 CDN, which is up from last month's box.

Final verdict? 4/5

This month's box was pretty good! I'm most looking forward to trying out the Robin Hood palette and the facial oil. The brush cleasner will definitely be used. I'll have to pass along the brow product and blush though because of shade issues. If you would like to subscribe to Boxycharm, there is currently NO waitlist. My link to sign up is:.
